Modern German Impuls kitchen in a bright open-plan room

Designed and fitted across all of mainland scotland

Modern German kitchens

German kitchens are made to order in a factory built around tolerances, then delivered flat and assembled on site. That is what buys you the flush doors, the soft-close drawers that still close softly in year eight, and a price that is easier to hold than a hand-built kitchen of the same size.

What defines a modern german kitchen

  • Built to order in Germany, with cabinet sizes engineered rather than site-cut
  • Matt lacquer, ultra-matt, woodgrain, glass and stone-effect fronts across the range
  • Handled or handleless on most ranges, with the same fronts either way
  • Price groups PG01 to PG04 in our Impuls line-up, so the budget is set before the design starts

Worth thinking about

Price group first

Every Impuls range sits in a price group. Choosing the group before the layout is the quickest way to keep a project honest - the layout can then be designed to that number.

Door thickness

IP 1200 uses a thinner 16mm door, which is why it sits in the entry price group. Everything above it uses the thicker standard door.

Lead time and delivery

Built-to-order means a wait rather than a warehouse pick, and it means the kitchen arrives complete. We deliver and install across Scotland with our own team.

How modern german kitchens work

How a built-to-order German kitchen is made

Nothing is held in stock. Once the design is signed off, the order goes to the factory as a cabinet-by-cabinet schedule and the fronts, carcases and hardware are made to those exact sizes, then delivered as one consignment to your house in Scotland. That is why the doors line through and the gaps stay even - the tolerances are set by machine, not by a saw on site.

Fronts: matt, ultra-matt, woodgrain, glass and stone

The front decides how the room reads and what it costs. Matt lacquer is the everyday choice; ultra-matt with an anti-fingerprint coating suits deep colours in a family kitchen; woodgrain and stone-effect fronts warm up a large open-plan room; glass fronts bounce light around a north-facing Scottish kitchen. The same layout can be quoted across several fronts so you can see the price difference before you commit.

Cabinet engineering and storage

German cabinets use a fixed hole pattern, so internal drawers, cutlery inserts, pull-out larders, corner carousels and waste systems all drop straight in. Drawer runners are rated by load and soft close whether the drawer is empty or full of pans, and tall units can be split into equal door heights across a run rather than left mismatched.

Comparing Impuls, Schüller and Nobilia

We supply Impuls directly and Schüller and Nobilia through our sister company, so a single appointment can cover all three. In practice the differences come down to front ranges, cabinet depths and price group rather than build quality - we will put the same layout through each and show you the numbers side by side.

Modern German kitchens: common questions

Are German kitchens better than British-made kitchens?

They are different. German kitchens win on consistency, engineering and price per metre. A hand-built British kitchen wins where the room is irregular or the design needs furniture rather than cabinets. We sell both, so we have no reason to push one.

Which German brands do you supply?

Impuls directly, and Schüller and Nobilia through our sister company.

Can I see a German kitchen before ordering?

Yes. Our Edinburgh showroom at 24 Dalziel Place is open by appointment, so you get a designer and the displays to yourself.
