Designed and fitted across all of mainland scotland
A handmade kitchen is drawn around your room rather than around a catalogue of cabinet sizes. We build the cabinetry ourselves, in timber, to the exact millimetre of an awkward chimney breast, a sloping ceiling or a run that has to finish flush against old plaster. It is the natural choice for period homes, and for anyone who wants a painted finish in a colour of their own choosing.
Tell us about the room, or upload the plans you already have, and we will come back within one working day. Our Edinburgh showroom at 24 Dalziel Place, EH7 5TP is open by appointment.
This is our Cameron Bespoke line, made in our own joinery. Where a room suits a mix, we happily pair handmade painted furniture with Impuls German cabinetry behind the scenes.
Handmade cabinetry is built to order in our workshop, so it takes longer than German furniture. We confirm the programme in writing before you commit, and plan the fitting week around it.
Handmade generally costs more than an equivalent Impuls kitchen because of the labour in it. If the budget is tight, we will say so and show you where German cabinetry gives a better result for the money.
Old houses are rarely square. Making the furniture ourselves means scribes, tapered fillers and bespoke heights are designed in, not improvised on site.
Handmade means the cabinets are cut, jointed, assembled and sprayed for your room rather than picked from a size list. Carcases are built in furniture board or plywood, drawer boxes are solid timber, and the sizes come off a survey of your walls - not off a 100 mm grid. It is why a handmade kitchen fits an Edinburgh tenement bay or a Victorian chimney breast without filler panels.
Every front is sprayed in our own finishing area, so we can match a heritage colour, a wallpaper or a fabric rather than working from a fixed palette. Because the doors are timber and sprayed rather than foil-wrapped, they can be rubbed down and repainted in ten or fifteen years - the same kitchen, a different decade.
The same joinery makes dressers, larders, islands, boot rooms, butlers pantries with hidden worktops, home bars, utility rooms and study snugs. Specifying them together means one design language, one paint schedule and one fitting team across the whole ground floor.
Handmade does not mean old-fashioned engineering. We fit German runners, soft-close hinges, internal drawer systems, larder pull-outs and integrated lighting inside hand-built cabinetry, so the kitchen looks traditional and works like a new German one.
The cabinetry is built for your room in our own joinery, to sizes taken from a site survey, rather than assembled from standard factory cabinet widths.
Yes. We spray to a specified colour reference and can produce a sample door so you can see it in your own light before the kitchen is made.
We do. The furniture is made in our workshop and fitted by our own teams, with our Edinburgh showroom open by appointment.
