Construction
IP 4050 is a lacquered front. The 19 mm MDF panel is machined, sanded, primed, then sprayed with several coats of lacquer, each one cured and flatted back before the next goes on. Building the colour in layers is what gives a lacquered door its depth - the colour sits in the finish rather than printed on top of it, so an edge or a shadow gap reads the same colour as the face.
Because it is sprayed MDF rather than a coated board, the door can be profiled, and it can be colour matched far more precisely. The final coat is cured to a hard, closed surface, which is why a good lacquer front cleans easily and resists yellowing.
It is the most repairable of the modern fronts. A lacquered door can be flatted and re-sprayed years later, where a coated or laminated door has to be replaced. If you plan to keep the kitchen for twenty years, that matters.
Best suited to: Colour led modern kitchens, deep greens, blues and greys, and clients who want a sprayed finish that can be refreshed rather than replaced.
