Kitchens in Fife

Two kitchen lines, one team

Homes in Fife get the same two choices as everyone else we work with: Impuls German kitchens for precision-engineered, built-to-order cabinetry, or our own bespoke handmade kitchens, hand-built in the Edinburgh joinery where we began in 1983.

We also design, supply and fit the worktops, sinks, taps and appliances, and handle the carpentry, electrics, plastering and building work. One team is responsible for the whole job, with one point of contact from first drawing to final handover.

Everything from survey to final handover is covered by our own team, from Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy up through the East Neuk. Typical lead time from order is 5-6 weeks, and every installation carries our 5-year guarantee.

Homes we work in around Fife

  • Stone-built coastal cottages in the East Neuk, where made-to-measure cabinetry earns its keep
  • Country and farm houses needing a hard-working utility as well as a kitchen
  • Modern family housing around Dunfermline, Glenrothes and Kirkcaldy

Places we cover in Fife

St Andrews, Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy, Cupar, Anstruther, Elie, Aberdour, Burntisland, Glenrothes, Falkland and everywhere between. If you are outside this list we almost certainly still cover you - we design and install across all of mainland scotland.

Fife kitchens, from the East Neuk to Dunfermline

Fife is one of the areas we work in most, and it splits into two quite different jobs. Along the coast - St Andrews, Crail, Anstruther, Elie, Falkland - the housing is stone built, often listed or in a conservation area, with thick walls, deep window reveals and floors that fall away across the room. Nothing about those kitchens is a standard size, which is why most East Neuk projects end up with our handmade cabinetry, scribed and hand-painted to the room.

Inland and west, around Dunfermline, Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy and the new housing off the M90, the rooms are squarer and the win is usually specification rather than joinery: better internal fittings, a proper larder, a worktop that survives family life, and a layout that stops the room being a corridor. Impuls German cabinetry does that job well and lands at a sensible price group.

Getting to Fife, and what that means for your programme

The showroom at 24 Dalziel Place is about 40 minutes from Dunfermline and just over an hour from St Andrews, and we cross the Forth constantly. Survey visits, deliveries and installation are all handled by our own team - there is no travel surcharge on Fife work and no local fitters taken on for the week.

For coastal and village properties we plan delivery around access: narrow wynds, cobbles, shared pends and single-track approaches all get checked at survey so a lorry does not turn up somewhere it cannot unload. Installation is scheduled as one continuous visit rather than a fitter appearing two days a week.

Listed buildings and conservation areas in Fife

A good number of St Andrews and East Neuk properties are listed or sit inside a conservation area. That rarely stops a kitchen, but it changes how you plan one: extract routes through a stone gable, replacing sash windows, moving services within a lime-plastered wall and altering internal joinery can all need consent from Fife Council.

We will flag anything that looks like it needs consent at design stage rather than after the order goes in, and we work to what the building can take - freestanding dresser units, ventilated larders and traditional in-frame cabinetry usually sit better in an old Fife house than a wall of full-height gloss.

Fife kitchen questions

Do you charge extra to fit a kitchen in Fife?
No. Fife is covered as standard from our Edinburgh base, including the East Neuk and north Fife, with no travel surcharge on design, survey or installation.
Can you design a St Andrews kitchen without me coming to Edinburgh?
Yes. Send plans, a floor plan or measurements and photos and we will design and quote remotely, then survey the room in person before anything is ordered. Most clients visit the showroom once, to sign off finishes.
Do you work on listed and conservation-area properties in Fife?
Regularly. We plan around what the building allows and tell you at design stage if anything is likely to need listed building or planning consent from Fife Council.
What does a kitchen cost in Fife?
The same bands as the rest of central Scotland. Our Scottish kitchen cost guide sets out realistic figures by room size and specification, and we quote line by line so you can compare it with any local quote.
